Born in El Centro, Ca and raised in Mexicali, B.C. Mexico, AKA “a border baby” Fayad began her love of dance at the very young age of 2 ½ and continued for the next 9 years studying ballet, jazz, and modern at a private dance studio. She continued to train extensively at La Jolla Festival Dance Center in San Diego. At 13, her family made a huge move to Los Angeles, but continued her ballet/pointe studies at Stanley Holden Dance studio in West L.A. During her High school years she discovered EDGE performing dance center in Hollywood where she was introduced to the professional dance world, and extended her training by taking hip-hop, lyrical dance and salsa. Accepted at Loyola Marymount University she majored in TV Production and Dance where she trained under Chair Judy Scalin and professors, Damon Patrick Rago, Holly Johnston, and Jason Myhre. She performed in many LMU dance concerts and she was chosen to be part of the LMU hip hop group “Kumba Beats”. After graduating in 2004, she was hired at Providence H.S. as head Choreographer for musicals such as “Pippen”, “Wonderful Town, “Little Shop of Horrors” and “Godspell”. She continued to train in Salsa Styling under Lisa Nunziella and Hip Hop-Salsa fusion under Gladys “Cuba” Ortega. This love of salsa expanded her Latin horizons and delved into the dance fitness world. After working at Univision (KMEX) for 11 years, she decided to get her certification in Zumba fitness under the amazing ZES Gina Grant in 2005 and continues her instructor development with Wil-son Williams. Fayad has made her path by starting the first Hip-hop after school and summer program at Visitation School and also teaching the first Zumba and kid’s Hip-hop class at Westchester Parks and Rec. She is currently part of the FitWell staff at Loyola Marymount University where she teaches Zumba and Hip Hop and is the 2018 Spring Sing choreographer for Visitation school. You can catch her perform during the year as she is part of the ladies salsa group “Artistico Dance Company”.
